Selank: Dosage, Calculator & Reconstitution Guide
A GABAergic, anxiolytic nootropic peptide available via intranasal spray or subcutaneous injection — research context only.
What Is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) derived from the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, with a stabilizing tripeptide tail added to extend enzymatic half-life. It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow and has been studied primarily for anxiolytic and cognitive effects, largely through GABAergic modulation. Secondary activity in the literature includes immunomodulation via changes in cytokine balance and interferon-related gene expression.
Selank has more clinical history than most research peptides — it received Russian regulatory approval on the basis of controlled trials for generalized anxiety indications — but it lacks large-scale Western clinical data. It is not FDA-approved. This page is a summary of the published research, not a health claim. See also our overview of Semax, another Russian-origin nootropic peptide with a similar administration profile.
Intranasal vs. Subcutaneous
Intranasal Spray
- Most studied route in the Russian literature
- Faster CNS access via nasal mucosa
- Typical concentrations of 0.15% (1.5 mg/mL) up to ~1.25 mg/mL
- Dosed in mcg per spray, typically 250–300 mcg per spray
- No syringe reconstitution math required for pre-made sprays
Subcutaneous Injection
- Standard lyophilized-vial + BAC-water reconstitution applies
- Common configuration: 5 mg vial in 2 mL BAC water = 2.5 mg/mL
- Dosed in mcg per injection, typically 250–500 mcg
- Use the peptide calculator for exact syringe draws
- Requires standard sharps, alcohol pads, refrigerated storage
Dosing Reference
Intranasal
| Spray Concentration | Mcg per Spray | Sprays per Day | Typical Total Daily Dose |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.15% (1.5 mg/mL) | ~250–300 mcg | 2–3 sprays, 1–3× daily | 500–1800 mcg |
| 1.25 mg/mL (compounded) | ~250 mcg | 2–4 sprays, 1–2× daily | 500–2000 mcg |
Subcutaneous
| Typical Vial Size | BAC Water Volume | Concentration | Common Dose Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 2.0 mL | 2.5 mg/mL | 250–500 mcg, 1–2× daily |
| 10 mg | 2.0 mL | 5.0 mg/mL | 250–500 mcg, 1–2× daily |
Selank is dosed in micrograms (mcg). Confirm units before drawing — a mg/mcg misread is a 1000× error.
Reconstitution & Calculator
For the injectable route, add bacteriostatic water slowly down the side of a 5 mg lyophilized Selank vial (typically 2 mL) and swirl gently until fully dissolved. At 2.5 mg/mL, a 250 mcg dose is 0.1 mL (10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe) and a 500 mcg dose is 0.2 mL (20 units). The nasal spray route does not require this math — pre-made sprays are dosed by number of sprays.

Storage & Stability
| State | Storage | Shelf Life |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized (unmixed) | Refrigerate or freeze; protect from light | 12–24 months |
| Reconstituted vial | Refrigerate 2–8°C; do not freeze | ~30 days |
| Intranasal spray | Refrigerate; keep upright and away from light | ~30 days once opened |
Both nasal spray and reconstituted injectable forms require refrigeration and light protection.
