Kisspeptin: Dosage, Calculator & Reconstitution Guide
A reproductive/hormonal axis research peptide studied for its role in GnRH signaling — reconstitution math, dosing ranges, and calculator, for research context only.
What Is Kisspeptin?
Kisspeptin is a family of peptide hormones encoded by the KISS1 gene, with kisspeptin-10 being the most commonly referenced fragment in research. It is produced in the hypothalamus and acts on KISS1R (formerly GPR54) receptors on GnRH neurons. Through this pathway, kisspeptin plays a central role in regulating the pulsatile release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn drives luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion from the pituitary.
The proposed mechanism most frequently cited in the literature is modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Research has examined kisspeptin in contexts such as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, hypothalamic amenorrhea, and fertility-related endocrine studies. Kisspeptin is not approved by the FDA for human use and this page is a summary of the research literature, not a health claim.
Dosing Reference
| Typical Vial Size | BAC Water Volume | Common Dose Range | Typical Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 mg | 1.0 mL | 100–300 mcg | Single dose or study-defined |
| 5 mg | 2.0 mL | 100–300 mcg | Single dose or study-defined |
| 10 mg | 2.0 mL | 100–300 mcg | Single dose or study-defined |
Kisspeptin dosing in published research is highly protocol-specific and often administered as a single research dose or short infusion series. The ranges above reflect commonly reported research quantities, not clinical recommendations.
Reconstitution & Calculator
For a 5 mg lyophilized vial, slowly add 2 mL of bacteriostatic water down the side of the vial, swirl gently until the powder fully dissolves, and store refrigerated. That yields a 2.5 mg/mL working concentration — a 250 mcg dose is 100 microliters (10 units on a U-100 insulin syringe). For a more concentrated solution, use 1 mL of BAC water to reach 5 mg/mL, where the same 250 mcg dose is 50 microliters (5 units).

Storage & Stability
| State | Storage | Shelf Life |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized (unmixed) | Refrigerate or freeze; protect from light | 12–24 months |
| Reconstituted vial | Refrigerate 2–8°C; do not freeze | ~30 days |
| Diluted or aliquoted | Refrigerate short-term; avoid freeze-thaw | Use immediately or per protocol |
Kisspeptin is a peptide and should be protected from heat, light, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Reconstituted solution should be clear; discard if cloudiness or particles persist after gentle mixing.
